The app is fantastic for composing on the go, and you’ll get quite a good feel for the music with the sounds it produces even if occasionally those sounds aren’t as top notch as you might expect (though I have no complaints). Considering the power included in the app, it’s a great value for money, and the bundles aren’t overly expensive. Sure, some interface elements could be greatly improved, but overall, this is a perfect notation app, imho. You can even record or actually hand write the music.
I would guess that my only real complaints (apart from some minor interface and usability annoyances) are the time it took to download all the instruments (from the ALL Bundle), and that suddenly, after a while, and for no particular reason, it forced me to download all of the instruments again (waste of time –not cool), and that it crashes predictably when using certain instruments and articulations (though it saves often, thankfully). Also, the handwriting, though amazing, can be a bit gimmicky.
In conclusion, if youre looking for an app to compose music with, this is definitely it (and you can open the files on the desktop version as well which is awesome). It may be a bit confusing or overwhelming for those that don’t know music, but in my experience, even those with some concept of written music will get the gist of it and would enjoy using it. If you’re a professional, you’re probably already using this app. :)
