I cant believe my eyes and ears. This is the best tool I have ever seen for music notation. Its way beyond anything you can do with the other apps out there. Honnestly thanks to the team who worked on it. Oh and with the new handwriting tool, I can fully take advantage of my iPad Pro with Apple Pencil :) I am a fan ! Fantastic app !

I got Notion back in the beginning of summer and have been using frequently since. Its very well designed and sounds good, but the menus werent very interactive. I had lots of trouble figuring everything out at first, but with time I understood. The only issue Im having right now, is the constant crashing and glitches. For example, right now, Im writing a piece that uses lots of pedal, however, eventually the program will crash once you get far enough into the song. Its very annoying and I hope it gets fixed soon.

A wonderful compositional tool. I write out and listen to the piece, I add on parts and listen them without the instrument between me and the music. Really changes what and how I write. Them I export to midi and into my recording software, and start to bring it to life. Very well done.

Ive always used Notion and always loved it. But with the new version it crashes ALL the time, especially when I try to upload to SoundCloud and when I listen to my creations entirely. Please fix!

It doesnt allow me to get any instruments at all due to an error message saying that item is being modified. It also says that the purchase of the item is not available at the time.

Like Bloxxering, I’m having issues with downloading any new instruments with the message: “the purchase of the item is not available at this time”. Other than that, it’s an excellent and easy product to write into and hear back what you’ve written. Great for on the road as you can compose during your down-time. = ]

I hadn’t opened this app in a while but I didn’t think that letting some time pass between projects would jeopardize my past work in any way. Well, when I opened it tonight for the first time in a while, I couldn’t open ANY scores and then when I looked at the scores list again, ALL MY PROJECTS WERE GONE!! TERRIBLE! I’m so disappointed and I probably won’t be using this app again. Why would you do this to your customers?????

First off, let me say I love this app, it’s easy to use and has a ton of great features. However, it could go from being a really good app to a fantastic app if it just had Audiobus and/or Ableton Link support. Please guys, there’s a lot of us creatives who would make such great use of this!

Everything works very well except the hand writing. At the beginning, it works well, but after few bars, hand writing stops. Fix it please.

Crashes all the time. On the iPad pro.

Formatting for Jazz Chords are very lacking for anyone trying to write basic lead sheet style charts. For example, there is no way to spell Cmaj13. You either have to write C13 (which is wrong) or Cmaj713 (which is dumb). Check out iRealPro or even better Touch Notation for perfectly executed Jazz chord input. Plenty of formatting options. You can even bracket and choose to stack extensions. The Chord input needs to be reworked from the ground up. How do I copy/paste chords? How do I resize chords? Other than that, I have no other problems with the app. Maybe a force (x) amount of bars to a system feature would be nice. Getting by without it though. Keep the updates coming and this app could be as good as full featured desktop competitors.

From a composers point of view of using this app for more than 3 weeks now, it gets the job done (fast!). I mean, I dont like to use an app where I "have" to use my keyboard or mouse to input the musical notations in; it would take me hours to finish just a page of a specific musical piece (on Logic Pro X and PreSonus). For this app itself, I can think and write my music at the same time; its so freakin convenient. However, on the contrary of the quality of the app, its not very well designed. After a few bars of inputting my notes, the app freezes for few minutes (and then I have to either wait or to close the app). There are cases where if I have too many instruments or if I write too quick, the app simply crashes. The good thing is it saves my work when the app closes (even when it crashes). The bad thing, of course is the crash itself is notoriously annoying. Therefore, there are some improvement needed! I await for future stable updates!

The potential here is incredible, and I would love to give the app more stars, but there are a couple things that need to be fixed. Most importantly, its not as stable as it should be. The app crashes each and every time I try to select a measure or enable the selection tool (meaning I cant copy, paste or delete anything). As well, Id love the stylus input area to be bigger than just the bottom inch or so of the screen--its a little awkward and uncomfortable to write on. Itd be nice to be able to write directly on the score rather than being confined to a small area where Im kind of forced to rest my palm off of the iPad itself. Theres so much to love here, but the app gets in its own way!

Ive been using this app for a long time and I really love it. The main problem has been being unable to open a file with "error opening file" notice. With the new iOS 10 update it seems to have a few bugs and issues. In particular, in my case, it crashes every time I try to select a measure, please do fix this.

I left a less positive review a couple months ago, and within a couple updates, every single one of my concerns were addressed. (Their customer support team very kindly also found me a workaround in the meantime.) This app is perfect for anyone who wants to write out music digitally, and a dream come true for anyone whos got an Apple Pencil. Perfect.

LET ME WRITE USING THE WHOLE SCREEN INSTEAD OF JUST A SMALL SECTION AT THE BOTTOM! PLEASE! WHAT IS THE POINT OF AN APPLE PENCIL IF EVERY APP USES IT IN VERY BAD WAYS?!? Handwriting is an extra $11 in app purchase. You cant even test if it works to your liking. I was disappointed when buying this app before i got an ipad pro but then the handwriting recognition is garbage. The updates after many months havent fixed the bad handwriting. it imports midi files with wrong time sigs and lots of other mistakes. The interface is very unorganized. Shame on Apple for promoting this. Seriously Id like someone to tell me why apple promotes this broken software.
